When was the team formed?


Past achievements:

FSG 14, FSC 15, FSI 14, FSG 16

  • 2014: Placed 35 out of 75 with a reliable 4-cylinder engine
  • 2015: Upgraded with first aerodynamics package, taking part in Italy (16th place) and the Czech Republic (10th place)
  • 2016: Remodelled, performance-optimised vehicle concept

Objectives for the 16/17 season:

  • Taking part in three racing events (FSG; two other European events)
  • Ranking: top 20 (FSG), top 10 (other events)
  • Focus on team organisation
  • Extensive vehicle testing (2½ months before the first event)

Optimisation of this year's vehicle

  • Engine applied more effectively: use of the engine test bed; introduction of an E-gas system
  • More lightweight chassis; lighter components
  • More efficient aerodynamic components: more downforce with less air resistance
  • More robust powertrain; a new safety system to guard against failure
  • Optimised vehicle electronics: lighter components, easier maintenance, more measurement systems

Technical highlights:

  • Weight: 165 kg
  • Power: 55 hp
  • Extremely low vehicle centre of gravity: 300 mm
  • Versatile use of lightweight construction materials: carbon-fibre aerodynamic components, seating, steering wheel, suspension arm, intakes. Titanium drive shafts and manifolds
  • Application of additive manufacturing (laser sintering) for topology-optimised components

Example applications of norelem products:

The machine feet sponsored by norelem were used for the engine test bed built in-house. The KTM 450 SXF single-cylinder engine is applied and tested on the test bed. A typical feature of single-cylinder engines is the vibrations, which are significantly stronger compared to multi-cylinder engines. As a result, the components of the test bed are subject to high mechanical vibrations. norelem machine feet were used in order to dampen these vibrations, and therefore to reduce the load on the test bench
