World Solar Challenge 2015
Every year, the World Solar Challenge, the world championship for solar vehicles, takes place in Australia. Teams from all over the world compete in a 3000 km race right across Australia. The SolarCar team competed in the World Solar Challenge in October 2015 with their sports coupé, the ThyssenKrupp SunRiser, and really impressed the jury:
3rd place in the overall ranking for the Cruiser Class
2nd place in the assessments for practicability and passenger kilometres
1st choice of the expert jury (the judge's commendation went to Bochum for the second time).
We would like to congratulate them on this success!
norelem in the project:
To build the ThyssenKrupp SunRiser, norelem sponsored the SolarCar team with indexing plungers for fixing the battery casing.

According to the rules, this battery box has to be quick and simple to remove for safety reasons.

To ensure this, the team opted for » stainless steel indexing plungers from norelem.

The casing with 60 kg of batteries and the accompanying electronics can be found in the rear of the SunRiser.
