Up-and-coming technicians on automation course are
supported by norelem products
Tettnang Electronics College offers technical specialist courses in three areas: Electrical technology, automation technology and IT.
In the area of automation technology, the college has been offering training in robotics, for the last couple of years, using two robot training modules. The number of participants on this course continues to rise steadily. One of the reasons for this is the growing importance of robot technology to industry, plus - of course - the interest shown by schoolchildren.
Applications for the course now exceed the number of places available however, so the electronics college requires additional robot training modules.
This has given rise to the technical task of designing and installing an additional robot training module. Budding automation technicians Markus Korn and Patrick Bucher, along with their fellow electronics student Jürgen Rilling, have taken on the challenge of carrying out this work as part of their graduation project.
norelem is also on board, to help with efforts to keep down the costs of the project, and to supply the team with the products required. The project details:

Plastic hinges have been fitted to the Macrolon doors. The decision was also taken to use hinges with an engaging mechanism, designed to fix the doors in two defined positions, rather than allow them to move freely. The Macrolon panels have been split along the middle to have the front section to be opened later, or to permit opening of the entire component. Locking bars for blocking purposes have been provided for fixing the doors in the middle. They allow the front part of the door to be opened, while the rear part remains fixed. If the complete door is to be opened, the locking bar is unblocked and engaged in position.
The inductive proximity switches have been added for the purpose of tool detection. As a pin made of aluminium is required for various applications, a holder has been attached to the magazine for the purpose of storing three of these pins. A tool-detection device using inductive sensors is installed at this point, so that the robot "knows" that a pin is available.
After many hours of work, the electronics school now possesses an additional robot training module for imparting the basics of robotics.
